I’ve been seeing on social media, people asking what they should do about dog abuse they just witnessed. First, you want to call your local law enforcement. Make sure to give them details about the abuse, such as, place, type of abuse, and if it is happening right now. If you can not get through to your local police then try the following hot lines.

Now, let’s cover some of the types of dog abuse that you might see.
Dog Fighting: People will make dogs fight to the death, and bet on which dog will win. Fighting dogs are often kept in unclean environments with little food and water.
Beating and Torture: Some people with anger issues will take their anger out on their dog. They will hit, kick, choke, and throw the dog. Sometimes the owner will use a knife on the dog or shoot the dog and sometimes set the dog on fire.
Puppy Mills: Dogs are kept in unclean, crowded cages. They don’t get enough food and water or veterinarian care. The dogs are bred repeatedly. The owner’s main concern is making money.
Neglect: The dog is left without food and water in an unclean environment. The dog usually doesn’t have a proper shelter. The owner doesn’t bring the dog to the veterinarian for shots or regular checkups.
Hoarding: Usually done by a kind-hearted person that wants to help strays but doesn’t have the proper knowledge to take care of multiple animals.
Please, please if you see any form of animal abuse, report it as soon as you can!
