I was reading this article on dog bites last night. Only bigger dogs were mentioned. Not a single small or toy breed. It made me think of the time I got bit by a toy poodle. I think I was in 6th grade. I had spent lots of time at this friend’s house. This little dog had known me for quite some time. She had let me pet her many times. She had cuddled with me on the couch and brought her toys to me to play. One day she jumped up and bit me. From that day on I was so nervous around that little toy poodle. She never bit me or anyone else again. I didn’t report the bite, I wasn’t even mad. Who knows maybe I did something that I wasn’t even aware of that scared the poor little thing. Remembering this made me wonder just how many dog bites are actually reported? If every single dog bite got reported no matter the size or breed, what would the correct percentage of pit bull type dog bites be?
